Am I Being Unreasonable? makers recruit a head of comedy

Ladhood producer Joe Nunnery joins Boffola Pictures

Joe Nunnery, producer of the hit BBC series Ladhood, will be joining indie production company Boffola Pictures as head of comedy.

The role as been newly created  by the company, which was set up by former BBC comedy chiefs Shane Allen and Kate Daughton in 2021.

Boffola Pictures is currently planning the second series of Daisy May Cooper and Selin Hizli’s BBC One comedy thriller Am I Being Unreasonable?  and is currently shooting Undoing Martin Parker, a 1990s-set comedy-drama also for BBC One, starring and co-written by Sian Gibson.

Nunnery began his career at BBC radio comedy, where he produced award-winning series including Alexei Sayle’s Imaginary Sandwich Bar and Liam William’s Ladhood, which he successfully developed for TV.

He said: ‘I couldn’t be more excited to join Boffola as I’ve long admired Kate and Shane as two of the most talented comedy minds in the business. It’s a privilege to be invited to join their team, who are already producing exciting and boundary-pushing comedy. I can’t wait to get started."

Allen added: ‘Joe’s a class act; beloved by talent, agents and broadcasters alike. He espouses our company ethos of taking creative swings and backing talent 100 per cent, alongside being rigorous and good-humoured.

‘Kate and I are very much hoping he’s the Beyonce to our Kelly and Michelle, the Barry to our Maurice and Robin, the Good to our Bad and Ugly, the Crackle to our Snap and Pop. You get the idea, yeah?’

Undoing Martin Parker – co-written with Car Share’s Paul Coleman – also stars Conleth Hill in the title role, plus George Costigan, Sheila Reid and Rosie Cavaliero.

Set in Manchester, the show revolves around Parker, a self-made electrical stores impresario ‘with the ambition of Alan Sugar and the swagger of Kilroy Silk’ who finds his life crumbling around him, thanks to the plotting of ‘all those he's screwing over’.
