Netflix announces launch date for Phil Wang's stand-up special

Just before his book comes out...

Netflix has announced that Phil Wang’s stand-up special will be released on August 10.

Philly Philly Wang Wang was recorded at the London Palladium last month, after the original recording in May last year had to be abandoned because of the pandemic.

The show will now drop a few weeks before Wang releases his first book Sidesplitter: How To Be From Two Worlds At Once through on September 16.

In this combined comic memoir and observational essay, the  comedians reflects on his experiences as an Eurasian man in the West and in the East.

Phil was born in Stoke-on-Trent, raised in Malaysia, and then came of age in Bath - 'a spa town for people who find Cheltenham too ethnic'.  One of his first breaks in comedy was winning the Chortle Student Comedy Award, and he has gone on to appear on TV shows including Taskmaster, QI and The Comedy Lineup, a series of short comic sets released on Netflix.

He will be continuing his Philly Philly Wang Wang tour this autumn. Dates and tickets.
