Soho Theatre announces its reopening programme

Comedy returns on May 17

Soho Theatre has announces its reopening season featuring comedy shows from the likes of Nina Conti, Jen Brister, Mark Thomas, Tim Key and Jordan Brookes.

The West End comedy hub will open its cabaret and main theatre spaces from May 17 - the earliest possible date under the government’s current roadmap out of lockdown. The bar will also reopen on the same day.

David Luff, Soho Theatre’s creative director said: ‘All of us at Soho Theatre are thrilled to welcome back audiences, artists and creatives to our venues and to reopen our much-missed bar in our home on Dean Street. As London’s most exciting festival venue, we’ve curated a vibrant mix of the best new theatre, comedy and cabaret.’

Shows will be staged with a socially distanced audience until the rules are relaxed further, currently expected to be June 21.

The venue closed on March 16 last year, and was briefly reopened for some comedy shows in December before the second lockdown hit.

In the interim has continued to offer on-demand shows - announcing a new one from Jessie Cave this week – and has been working towards opening its new site in Walthamstow, North East London.

The new programme goes on sale today from 3pm to Soho Theatre Friends and for everyone else at 10am tomorrow.
