Help Dave Gorman set his next crossword

Charity event with master compiler John Halpern

Dave Gorman and fellow crossword compiler John Halpern are to crowdsource their next word puzzle.

They want the public to help them create a crossword in the theme of the band Madness on Friday, picking both the answers and devising clues and mysterious clues as the crossword is put together before their eyes.

Halpern has compiled grids for many national newspapers while Gorman last year became a compiler for The Independent  under the pseudonym Bluth and sometimes the Telegraph as Django.

Friday’s event is free, bu the pair are asking for donations for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Gorman said: ‘It’s rare to get to collaborate with the best in the business... but I'm sure John won't let me down.

‘It ought to be fun for both seasoned solvers and those who are merely crossword-curious, and of course it's for a cause that is very dear to my heart.’
