Broadcaster sets series three air date

Sky One has confirmed the air date for the return of Idris Elba’s comedy In The Long Run.

All episodes of the third series will be available to watch from  July 22, the broadcaster has announced.

Elba – who stars in the semi-autobiographical series alongside Madeline Appiah, Jimmy Akingbola and Bill Bailey –  said: ‘Nothing beats a funny story from someone who was there! I can’t wait for viewers to see series three.’

The new series also stars Ellen Thomas as the mother of Elba’s character Walter, arriving in London from Sierra Leone while Bailey’s character Bagpipes has a near-death experience that makes him question the meaning of life.

Jon Mountague, director of comedy for Sky Studios, said: ‘Our chests are puffed out with pride for the return of Idris Elba’s award-winning In The Long Run.

‘Chapter Three has more LoLs than ever and as we’ve come to expect, is shot through with family, community and togetherness.’
