And release it as an iPlayer box set

BBC One is to repeat all 12 episodes of Peter Kay’s Car Share, the broadcaster has announced today.

The comedy will air from Friday May 15 and will also be made available as a box set on iPlayer.

It follows the surprise release of an audio only episode of Car Share earlier this month, and Kay’s brief return to TV during BBC One’s Big Night In last Friday.

The comic said: ‘I’m thrilled, it really couldn’t be shown at a better time.’

Shane Allen, controller of BBC comedy, added: ‘Car Share was one of the major comedy hits of the last decade and is just the tonic for our times as we join John and Kayleigh on their laughter filled journeys to work and also towards one another’s hearts.’ 

There have been more than 34.8m requests across all episodes of Car Share on BBC iPlayer to date.

BBC One has been airing the fourth series of Peter Kay's Comedy Shuffle, the clip show repackaging his earlier work, which ends this Friday.
