Serious role for Anna Crilly

Comic cast in 'poignant' London play

Anna Crilly has been cast in a London play about adoption and family secrets.

The comedian, who played deadpan Magda in Jack Dee's sitcom Lead Balloon, stars in the ‘poignant and emotionally gripping’ new drama Never Not Once at the Park Theatre.

It s plot revolves around a college student being brought up by two mums who unexpectedly announces she has decided to try to find her biological father – and hires a detective whose investigation leads to a cascade of painful revelations.

Crilly plays one of the mums in a cast that also includes Maureen Hibbert, Tania Amsel, Sid Sagar and Adrian Grove.

It has been written by Carey Crim, who won the 2017 Jane Chambers Playwriting Award for new feminist plays.

The UK premiere runs at the theatre in Finsbury Park, North London, from April 1 to 25.
