Danny Wallace joins Radio X

Standing in for Russell Brand

Danny Wallace has signed up to Radio X, standing in for Russell Brand.

The comic writer will take over the his 11am to 1pm slot from this Sunday.

However, the broadcaster could not say how long his stint would last, saying only that it would be while Brand was ‘working overseas’.

Wallace previously hosted the breakfast show on Radio X’s forerunner XFM in 2011 and 2012. He now writes a weekly ShortList column and his best-selling books include Join Me, Awkward Situations for Men and Yes Man, which was made into a Hollywood film starring Jim Carrey.

He said: ‘Radio runs through me like a shoplifter through a pound shop and I am so pleased to be joining the hugely talented team at Radio X.

‘As ever, my intention will be to slowly bring about tensions and rivalry while undermining senior staff, all set to great music. I can’t wait to get started and will keep Russell’s boat warm for him.’

Radio X is on 104.9 FM in London and 97.7 FM in Manchester as well as on digital radio and online.
