Colin From Accounts closes its books
Series three will be the last, creators say
The next series of Colin From Accounts will be the last, creators Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall have announced.
The pair, a real-life couple who also star in the romcom, broke the news in a video posted to Instagram.
Brammall said: ‘First we just want to say season three is coming at you. We really hope you enjoy it. We love it and we hope you do too.
Dyer then added: ‘We also need to add that this is our last season.’
The rest of the message was intercut with shots from the series imagining fans’ response to the news.
They added: ‘Understandably you’re upset. Creatively it felt like the right time for these characters and this world. We don’t want to flog a dead horse. Good comedy comes in threes.
‘Anyway, we’re sorry if you’re disappointed. We’re going to miss it terribly. We love this world, we love these characters, we love making TV for you guys
‘We love you guys. We just want to say bye, we’ll see you round the bend.’
Colin From Accounts series three starts on July 27 on Binge in Australia. Both previous series have aired on the BBC in the UK – and are still available on iPlayer – although it has not been formally announced that the broadcaster will carry the new episodes.
Series three picks up from the cliffhanger from series two, in which Brammall’s character Gordon proposed to Dyer’s Ashley in the middle of their friends’ wedding party, to the shock of all the other guests.
Mark Trevorrow, best known for his comedy-cabaret alter-ego Bob Downe, is joining the cast for the new series.
Daniel Monaghan, an executive director of Binge’s parent company Foxtel, said: 'Colin From Accounts has become one of those rare shows that feels unmistakably Australian while connecting with audiences around the world.’
