Virgin Radio to broadcast from the Edinburgh Fringe

Graham Norton and Geoff Lloyd will be at the festival

Graham Norton and Geoff Lloyd are to present their Virgin Radio shows live from Edinburgh during the Fringe.

Norton will broadcast from the Virgin Hotel on August 9 from 2pm to 5pm, while  Lloyd will be on air from the same venue from 6pm to 10pm from August 10 to 14.

Norton – who is also an official Edinburgh Fringe ambassador – will be joined by  Maria McErlane for his show, which comes two days after the pair record a live version of their podcast, Wanging On, at the Gilded Balloon.

He said: ‘There's something incredibly special about Edinburgh in August… It's always such a joy to be surrounded by the creativity, energy and talent that fills the city during festival season.'

Virgin Hotel’s general manager, Mafalda Albuquerque, said: 'We're so excited to welcome Graham Norton during what is always one of the most exciting times of the year for the city. As an official Fringe ambassador, Graham perfectly embodies the creativity, humour and energy that make the festival so special.’

His show will take place in front of an audience of just 65 people. Tickets are on sale through the hotel's website, costing £55 for a broadcast-and-lunch package. Tickets to the podcast recording have already sold out.
