Fourth Paddington movie announced
With ‘world-renowned comedy writers’
A fourth Paddington film is to go into production.
Studiocanal announced the news at CinemaCon in Las Vegas yesterday – although no further details were announced.
But CEO Anna Marsh told attendees that the film would be scripted by ‘world-renowned comedy writers’.
The franchise has already taken more than £500million at the box office. The 2014 original was written by Paul King, who was joined by Simon Farnaby for the second. For the third, Mark Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont fleshed out the pair’s story.
Also at the CinemaCon session, Danny Boyle presented the first footage from Ink – which tells the story of The Sun newspaper and stars Jack O’Connell as editor Larry Lamb, Guy Pearce as publisher Rupert Murdoch; and Claire Foy as the women’s editor.
A trailer for the London-set comedy thriller Everybody Wants To F*ck Me, which stars Taron Egerton, was also shown.
Studiocanal has been fiercely protective of its Paddington rights, forcing YouTube to take down recent episodes of the rebooted Spitting Image which featured a parody of the bear as a South American druglord.
