Amy Gledhill's comedy 'being developed into a series'

Big plans for stand-up's C4 Blap

Amy Gledhill’s comedy pilot Toads is being developed into a full series, it has been reported.

Channel 4 released a 13-minute version of the show as a Comedy Blap in 2024, and now industry website Broadcast reports that the production company  behind it – Various Artists Ltd – is working it up into a full series.

However it is understood that nothing has yet been greenlit by the broadcaster.

In the taster, Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Gledhill played Amber, who has ‘kissed many frogs before finding her prince’, but got cold feet on the day of her wedding.

The Toads Blap also starred Robert Gilbert, Leah Brotherhead, Edward Easton, Rosie Cavaliero and Andrea Valls.

Last year, Gledhill revealed that she had been working on more scripts. Speaking to fellow comic Richard Herring on his RHLSTP podcast, she said: ‘I did a Blap for Channel 4 called Toads. Which is really hard to say in a Hull accent. Because we pronounce it "Turds".

‘That's a diddy little pilot for a sitcom and Channel 4 are continuing to develop it, which is very nice. They've commissioned some more scripts and stuff like that. Hopefully, one day [it will be made], because that's the dream. I'd love that more than anything. Maybe next year something like that may happen.’

Gledhill’s profile is about to grow as she takes part in the  second series of Amazon Prime Video’s LOL: Last One Laughing, set to air from next Thursday.

Various Artists Ltd’s other credits include Such Brave Girls, Juice and I May Destroy You.

Previous Blaps to have been turned into series include Stath Lets Flats, Chewing Gum  and We Are Lady Parts.
