Fjord release their debut album

Hear an exclusive track from Will Hislop and Barney Fishwick's Norwegian Eurodance legends

Fjord, the spoof Norwegian Eurodance legends created by comedy duo Giants, are releasing their first album – and Chortle can share an exclusive first track.

Forever Young Tonight Always is a compilation of all the music that Will Hislop and Barney Fishwick have produced for the Edinburgh shows and their 2022 Radio 4 show BBC Radio Fjord: Breaking Britain.

Here’s Genie, I Cheated!, a parodyof the confessional R'n'B stylings of artists like Usher and Ray.

Fishwick and Hislop said in a statement: ‘We've performed as the Norwegian pop duo Fjord for many years up and down the UK, from London to Loch Lomond and we're now ready to present their greatest hits album.

‘It's a love letter to the great Eurodance artists and artistes of our childhood - Basshunter, Gina G, The Cheeky Girls and of course... Doop.

‘We decided to release it now because in an age of polarisation and conflict What The World Needs is songs that rhyme "love" with "love" and we're willing to do that many, many times on this album.

‘We grew up listening to Flight Of The Conchords and Bo Burnham albums on long car journeys so hopefully one day people will put on Ecstasy Is Calling or Genie, I Cheated! while cruising down the M5.’

And in character as the band who who allegedly came fifth in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, they said: ‘People often ask us "Fjord, where have you guys been?" and we've got two things to say to that... One we haven't been anywhere. And two? We're back baby.

‘And we're back with this beautiful album of heartfelt bangers about dancefloors and dangerous girls. It's ten of our greatest hits and in many ways... the only ten songs we've made. Some golden oldies, some silver newies and some bronze didn't charties. Enjoy please.’

The album will be available to stream on Spotify from next Friday.
