Taskmaster special to raise funds for children's hospital
Streamed event featuring content creators
YouTubers are to take part in a live-streamed Taskmaster event in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Ten digital creators will be taking on challenges at the fundraiser, hosted by the show’s creator Alex Horne and fellow comedian Jake Bhardwaj.
Those taking part, and raising money for a new children’s cancer centre, include TommyInnit, MatPat, Ayamé and Hayley Morris.
Horne visited the Central London hospital ahead of the event, saying it was a ‘humbling honour’ to see the work being done.
‘Meeting the children, young people and families who are showing incredible bravery in the face of something unimaginable was a privilege and something I won’t forget. It absolutely inspired me to help try to raise as much money as possible to help bring the new children’s cancer centre to life. It’s necessary.’
One of the patients Horne met was Alannah, 12, who is being treated for a rare cardiac tumour. He gave her a task of her own, wax-sealed in one of the show’s iconic envelopes.

‘Meeting Alex was really cool, especially as we’ve seen him on TV a lot – I think my dad was even more excited,’ Alannah said. ’Alex was really funny and gave me my own task to try. When I’m staying on the wards for treatment, having different things to do really helps the time go quicker. We had a really good chat’
Her father, Kieron, said: ‘I was really struck by how genuine and down-to-earth Alex is, and it was great to have a bit of a laugh with him while we’re staying at GOSH.’
The live stream will be shown on Taskmaster’s YouTube channel and on Twitch from 5pm on September 5 – two days after the 22nd series starts on Channel 4.
