
Golden Cobra wins two Bafta Cymru Awards
Entertainment and breakthrough awards
Animated comedy The Golden Cobra was named best entertainment programme at the Bafta Cymru Awards last night.
And its writers Adam Llewellyn, James Prygodzicz, and Thomas Rees won the breakthrough award at the ceremony honouring Welsh TV and film talent.
Llewellyn said: ‘I didn’t think we’d win so I haven’t prepared anything for this’
He acknowledged executive producer Paul Forde and Sarah Breese and Dan Thomas, who produce the show their company Beastly Media, for ‘picking us up and believing in a our weird cartoon’.
And the thanked his fiancee Lizzy for ‘putting up with me doing silly voices all night in the spare room’.
A further 12 episodes of the ten-minute comedy about Ebbw Vale's worst takeaway have been commissioned for BBC Three and BBC One Wales, to air next year.

The big winner at the ICC Wales in Newport was Lost Boys and Fairies, which received five awards including best television drama and Sion Daniel Young for best actor. And Anna Maxwell Martin won her first Bafta Cymru award for best actress for her performance in Until I Kill You. A full list of winners is here.
