Jimmy Carr's wealth swells by £3million

And he's paid tax!

Jimmy Carr’s wealth grew by more than £3million last year, Companies House accounts reveal.

His firm R&I Futures Limited, saw its balance sheet jump from £5.2million to £8.3million in the 12 months to   September 2024.

The accounts also reveal he paid £1.2million in tax and social security – more than a decade after he was famously named as exploiting a controversial tax avoidance scheme. The bill was considerably up from the £270,000 it paid out in the previous year, thanks to the soaring earnings

As probably the hardest-working man in comedy, Carr, 52, maintains a relentless touring schedule, and is currently on the road with his Laughs Funny show.

He released his fourth Netflix special, Natural Born Killer, in the period covered by the accounts published this week, as well as continuing his duties hosting Eight Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, The Big Fat Quiz Of TV and I Literally Just Told You for Channel 4.

He has since gone on to hosted LOL: Last One Laughing for Amazon Prime Video, which has been renewed for a second series, and will front the forthcoming  Jimmy Carr’s Am I The Arsehole? for Comedy Central.

Established in December 2022  R&I Futures is registered in Berkshire and has Carr as its only director.

Last month, Carr became emotional after receiving a message from a fan during a gig thanking him for saving his life during a period of depression and suicidal thoughts.

The comedian admitted he ‘teared up’ as he read the text, saying: 'In 2020 I tried to take my own life and didn't see a way out of my depression. Your shows on Netflix and clips on social media gave me something to laugh about when all I saw was darkness.

'I've been out of hospital for 2 years now and finally get to see you live with my wonderful partner, Hannah. Thanks for being the light in the dark Jimmy.’

The moment was then perfectly broken when a fan shouted out 'gay' from the audience…
