Second series for Tom and Lauren Are Going OOT!

Radio 4 comedy retuning in 2026

Lauren Pattison and Tom Machell are making a second series of their Radio 4 sitcom Tom and Lauren Are Going OOT!

Julian Clary returns as their neighbour Neil with comic Louise Young also back as Barbara over the four 15-minute episodes,

Pattison said: ‘I’m delighted that we’ve been trusted with a series two for Tom and Lauren. We had so much fun writing the first series and bringing these characters to life, and it’s great to see people backing great comedy made in the North East.’

And her co-star and co-writer Machell added: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled to be back for series 2! The response to series 1 was incredible, a huge thank you to everyone who listened, shared, and came along for the ride.

‘Lauren and I are scribbling away, and we can’t wait to share more of the chaos, mishaps, and unexpected adventures that Tom and Lauren (plus Neil and Barbara) stumble into this time around.

'Working with Lauren is so much fun, and getting the chance to make another season of this show in the North East really is the cherry on top.’

The show is made by Newcastle- and Gateshead-based Candle & Bell and this is said to be the first re-commission of a radio series in the North East by an independent production company.

Managing director Maria Caruana Galizia said: ‘I’m delighted to be working with Tom and Lauren once again, producing the second series of this show in the North East. It’s such a treat to work with local talent and local voices. We can’t wait to bring you the second instalment of the misadvantures of this loveable couple.

‘The series will be recorded at the Pride Media Centre in Gateshead working with a talented northern team.’

The new series will air on Radio 4 and BBC Sounds next year. The  four episodes of Series 1 are available here.
