Ted to become an animated comedy

New incarnation for Seth MacFarlane's creation

Seth MacFarlane's Ted is to become an animated TV series.

The Family Guy creator will sign voice the foul-mouthed teddy bear, as well as acting as one of the executive producers.

Its cast also includes returning stars Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Barth and  Liz Richman,  plus newcomer Kyle Mooney, formerly of Saturday Night Live.

The new show is being made for US streamer  Peacock and is said to be a sequel that picks up after the Ted films.

Ted started as a filming mixing live-action and CGI in 2012, with a follow-up three years later.

Last year, Peacock aired a seven-episode TV series which was a prequel to the movies, because of  Wahlberg’s unavailability to reprise the role of John, the owner and best friend of the title character. Filming wrapped on a  second series in January, with the recomposing coming despite fears over the  high production costs of around $8 million per episode.

However the series was Peacock’s most-watched original title to date and was the top original streaming comedy in the US for more than two months.

The first series is currently streaming on Now in the UK.
