Jordan Gray unveils her new show
Follow-up to the blockbuster Is It A Bird?
Jordan Gray has announced her follow up to her breakthrough show, Is It A Bird?, after it aired on Channel 4 on Friday.
The transgender comic’s follow-ip is called Is That A C*ck In Your Pocket, Or Are You Just Here To Kill Me? and launches at Soho Theatre in London from Soho Theatre from May 19 to 31.
Gray’s 2022 show was an Edinburgh Fringe hit and led to an appearance on Channel 4’s Friday Night Live – where she stripped naked and attracted 1,600 complaints to broadcast regulator Ofcom, which were not upheld.
She said: ‘I got so many death threats off the back of FNL, it got scary. But then I started making jokes about it on stage, and it got funny SO fast.
‘The last show took off in such a crazy way, it feels like I'm competing with myself. Which I don't mind, I enjoy the professional rivalry. Sometimes we go for smoothies together.’
Gray also created the comedy series Transaction, due to air as a six-part series this summer on ITVX, in which she plays a supermarket employee hired for diversity purposes, who turns into a nightmare egomaniac.
The six-part series co-stars Nick Frost, and began life as an online series in 202.
On Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch last month, Gray – who started her showbiz career as a singer, appearing on The Voice in 2016– said she had written all the stories for a second season, adding that she was ‘absolutely’ in discussions over a recommission.
Tickets for her Soho dates go on sale on Wednesday.
• Nina Conti has announced a five-night West End run of her slow Whose Face Is It Anyway?’ at The Duke Of York’s Theatre from April 29. She said of the run: get an almighty kick out of the fact that I'll be standing on a stage which I have so often watched from the audience. It's a stunning old theatre, it reminds me of the Muppet Show and feels like a dream come true.’
