As does Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing

Young Offenders is to return for a Christmas special.

While a fifth series has not yet been announced, Hilary Rose Dominic MacHale and Alex Murphy will all be reprising their roles for the BBC One comedy.

The plot revolves around  Mairéad (Rose) discovering a handgun in her son Conor’s (Murphy’s)  basket. It turns out that the is looking after it for Jack Hammer, the only person in the world that Billy Murphy (Shane Casey) is terrified of. 

The fourth series of the show – created by Peter Foott – aired on the BBC in May, although Irish broadcaster RTE, which co-finances the series, has not yet broadcast it. 

Meanwhile, the BBC has also announced that Gone Fishing will return for another Christmas episode on BBC Two.

This year’s hour-long  special takes Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer to Cahors in the South-West of France where the fish the rivers Cele and Lot in search of Mediterranean bass and huge French carp.

Plus they reflect on the highs and lows of the year gone by – and hold their annual awards ceremony.

As previously announced, Outnumbered will also be returning for a one-off festive special, and there will be the usual Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas and New Year’s Day episodes.
