Frankie Monroe to host a Radio 4 pub quiz

New show for Joe Kent-Walters' award-winning alter-ego

Joe Kent-Walters is recording a Radio 4 comedy show in the guise of his alter-ego Frankie Monroe.

In Frankie Monroe's Pub Quiz, the winner of last year’s BBC New Comedy Award will ask questions of the regulars at The Misty Moon, his Rotherham working men's club which is also a portal to hell.

The show will actually be recorded at Fairfield Social Club in Manchester on December 10.

Producers’ heavily footnoted description of the show reads: ‘A 100% real* pub quiz recorded for BBC Radio, hosted live from the Misty Moon Club** by Yorkshire's biggest bastard Frankie Monroe, guaranteed to be full of fun***, prizes****, celebrity cameos*****, and good clean BBC-friendly entertainment******

* Frankie's answers are final
** The Fairfield Social Club, Manchester
*** Taste dependent
**** Frankie accepts no responsibility for the safety regulations of prizes
***** Depends on your definition of celebrity
****** Frankie accepts no responsibility for what the BBC consider entertainment these days

Kent-Walters also won the best newcomer award at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe and is a former winner of the Chortle Student Comedy Award.

Free tickets to the recording are available from Standing Room Only.
