Comedy.co.uk awards announced

Ghosts has been named comedy of the year at the comedy.co.uk awards.

As well as taking the top prize, the ensemble sitcom – which came to an end on Christmas day after five series – was named best returning sitcom.

Catherine Tate’s Queen Of Oz was named best new sitcom by readers of the site. She said:Thank you so much to everyone who voted, what a wonderful surprise. I'm genuinely thrilled and touched. Thank you!’

Writer David Quantick thanked those who voted, while  stars Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders said: "We don't know who David Quantick is sleeping with on the board of these comedy awards... but we're grateful that he does!’
