Alongside Jamie Demetriou, Kieran Hodgson, Joe Lycett and many more UK comics

Several British comedians are up for acclaim in the prestigious Rose d’Or international TV awards.

Chris McCausland’s travelogue Wonders of the World I Can’t See has been shortlisted in the  factual entertainment and reality category alongside the likes of dating formats Married at First Sight UK and My Mum, Your Dad.

The comedy entertainment category is dominated by Brits with the shortlist comprising A Whole Life with Jamie Demetriou; the parody show Gregg Wallace: The British Miracle Meat; Hold The Front Page with Josh Widdicombe and Nish KumarKieran Hodgson’s comedian-studded Prince Andrew: The Musical and Taskmaster Series 15 alongside the only non-UK show in this section, German Genius.

But the only British show nominated in the comedy drama and sitcom category is Netflix’s coming-of-age romcom Heartstopper, based on Alice Oseman’s webcomic and graphic novel.

Also shortlisted are Canada’s About Antoine, Australia’s  Colin From Accounts, France’s Parlament, US series Poker Face, starring Natasha Lyonne, and Denmark’s The Orchestra.

Late Night Lycett, Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel and Lee Mack-fronted The 1% Club  are shortlisted in the studio entertainment category alongside RuPaul’s Drag Race UK , Korea’s I Can See Your Voice and Mexico’s Raid The Cage.

Mark Rowland, who chairs the awards, said of this year’s submissions: ‘We’ve seen an incredible breadth of topics and creative approaches from entrants across 30 countries.

‘A huge thank-you to everyone who entered and many congratulations to the talented production teams who have reached this final stage."

Jean Philip De Tender, deputy director general of the European Broadcasting Union added: ‘As always, the judges had the privilege of sifting through a wide range of high-quality entries, showcasing exceptional international talent from front-of-camera and behind-the-scenes. And once again they had the almost impossible task of selecting just six in each category from over 700 entries.

‘My heartfelt congratulations go out to the successful nominees; all groundbreaking talents, all destined to make an impact on our industry."

Awards will be handed out on November 27 at King’s Place in London, alongside special individual accolades  will also for emerging talent, performance of the year and lifetime achievement.
