Peter Kay to launch his new memoirs with Sara Cox

Live events at Salford's Lowry Theatre

Peter Kay is to appear in conversation with fellow Bolton-born star Sara Cox at two events to mark the release of his next memoir, Peter Kay’s Diary.

The shows on Sunday September 14  at Salfod’s Lowry Theatre, will also be recorded for broadcast, although details of how it will air have not yet been released.

Kay Diary coverThe diary, subtitled The Monthly Memoir of a Boy from Bolton, it will be published by HarperCollins on October 9. However it does not cover a particular year in the stand-up’s life, but rather themes his memories around the calendar.

Kay has said: ‘Think of this autobiography as a 12-month subscription to my memories and meanderings across the calendar year. With each month reflecting a different phase of my life, complete with dodgy decisions, bizarre plot twists and more than a few laugh-out-loud moments.’

Kay’s first book, 2007’s The Sound Of Laughter, is the biggest-selling hardback autobiography of all time, with sales of more than a million across all formats.

He followed it up with Saturday Night Peter in 2009 and TV: Big Adventures On The Small Screen in September 2023. Plus he published the tour tie-in The Book That's More Than Just a Book - Book in 2011.

Tickets for the live events, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm will go on sale at 10am tomorrow (Saturday) here.

Profits will be donated to Bolton Hospice and Crescent Food Bank Bolton.

Kay’s current record-breaking tour runs until May. Peter Kay tour dates.
