Meet the first 2023 Chortle Student Comedy Award finalists

Five up-and-coming acts chosen

The first finalists for this year’s Chortle Student Comedy Award have been named following the first semi-final in London last night.

They are:

  • Alex Knipe, 20, a second year music undergraduate at Durham University
  • Hannah Yarwood, 20, a third year drama and theatre student at the University of Kent
  • Ivo Pope, 22, a third year English undergraduate, also at at Durham
  • Josh Adkins, 22, a third year theology and religion undergraduate at Exeter University.
  • Muhsin Yesilada, 26, who is studying for a psychology PhD at the University of Bristol

They all go through to the final will at Up The Creek in Greenwich on July 12, hosted by Mark Watson and broadcast on Radio 4 Extra the following night. Tickets

The second semi-final will be at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre on May 9. Tickets

Last night’s other semi-finalists were: Andrew Kingston, Charlotte Elvins, Daniel Lambert, Ivo Pope, Kayvan Khazaee Mia Clock, Ollie Fox, Tristan Nowell and Will Davis
