Greg Davies' The Cleaner returns for a second sweep
The week's best comedy on TV and radio
Our pick of the comedy on TV, radio and on demand this week:
Sunday March 19
THE GREAT CELEBRITY BAKE OFF FOR STAND UP TO CANCER: Friends star David Schwimmer, comedians Rose Matafeo and Tom Davis and pop star Jesy Nelson kick off a new series of the celeb spin-off, attempting savoury pies, a fiddly French confection and something in meringue to commemorate their most embarrassing celebrity fail. Channel 4, 7.45pm
WORLD’S MOST DANGEROUS ROADS: Best friends and Derry Girls stars Monica Jackson and Jamie Lee O’Donnell take on the rugged mountains of Romania. Dave, 8pm
Tuesday March 21
ALAN DAVIES AS YET UNTITLED: Joining Alan around the table are Jason Byrne, Fatiha El-Ghorri, Alex Jones (The One Show presenter, not the far-right American nutjob) and Helen Bauer, who also hosts the UKTV Play companion series t this show, Bauer’s Bar. Dave, 10pm
Thursday March 23
DISCOVERING: CHARLIE CHAPLIN: Does very much what the title suggests… Sky Arts, 8pm
Friday March 24
THE CLEANER: Greg Davies is back as crime scene cleaner Wicksy - and has to face the ultimate test of self-control: a job in a pub, after he’s promised his new girlfriend he’ll stay off the booze. But resisting a pint is the least of his challenges once he meets hard-bitten landlady Lisa (Harriet Walter) and muscle-bound barman Cuddle, (Charlie Rawes). Read an interview with Davies about the new series here. BBC One, 9.30pm.
EATEN BY LIONS: Comic Jack Carroll and actor Antonio Aakeel play half-brothers in this good-natured, if unspectacular 2018, comedy film about half-brothers seeking an estranged parent in Blackpool. It boasts a fine supporting cast including Johnny Vegas, Kevin Eldon, Vicky Pepperdine, Asim Chaudhry, Phil Ellis, Janice Connolly and – unfortunately – Tom Binns. BBC Two, 11.35pm.
THE NOW SHOW: Ian Smith, Sarah Keyworth and Huge Davies join Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis this week. BBC Radio 4, 6.30pm
