Slapstick festival to honour Barry Cryer

With help from Graeme Garden and Colin Sell

The Slapstick vintage comedy festival is to pay tribute to Barry Cryer close to what would have been his 87th birthday.

His son Bob Cryer and his I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue colleagues Graeme Garden and Colin Sell will be sharing their memories at the event on March 27.

He was originally scheduled to have appeared at Bristol’s Redgrave Theatre that day in an ‘audience with’ session, regaling the audience with his many gags and showbusiness anecdotes.

But the star’s death on January 25 means it will now be a tribute event, to be hosted by his friend Les Dennis. And profits will go to The Royal Variety Charity, at the family’s request.

The event will also include video messages from other celebrity fans, plus clips of Barry’s former appearances at the festival, which honoured him with their  Comedy Legend Award in 2015.

Tickets are on sale now here, priced £18 (£16 concessions).

Barry would have turned 87 on March 23.
