Vic Reeves joins Jools Holland on tour

Comic replaces Leo Sayer

Vic Reeves is to tour with Jools Holland’s band later this year.

The comic will replace planned support act Leo Sayer, as the English-Australian singer has been grounded by Covid travel restrictions.

Reeves – real name Jim Moir – was a member of several bands before finding fame in comedy, and had a 1991 No1 with a cover of Dizzy recorded with The Wonder Stuff. He, Bob Mortimer and EMF also had a No 3 in 1995 with a version of I’m A Believer, and he recorded the theme music to the 2007 Shaun The Sheep movie, which made No 20.

The comic is a long-term friend of bandleader Holland, and the pair have a podcast together, Jools And Jim’s Joyride.

Reeves will be joining  the shows at Portsmouth Guildhall on November 17; London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 19 and 20; Southampton Mayflower on September 28; Bath Forum on December 9, Plymouth Pavilions on December 10; Brighton Centre on December 11 (replacing Lulu) and the Leeds First Direct Arena on December 17.

Producers say Reeves will be ‘singing a selection of songs on stage with his usual comic flare alongside Jools and the 19-piece orchestra’.
