NextUp to stream live Comedy Store gigs

New deal for subscription platform

Stand-up streaming platform NextUp has signed a deal with London's Comedy Store to bring their shows live to subscribers’ homes.

Monthly shows broadcast live from the Piccadilly Circus venue will start  place next Tuesday with a gig headlined by  Reginald D Hunter, and also featuring Evelyn Mok, Ola Labib and MC Thanyia Moore

Sarah Henley, co-founder of NextUp, said: ‘Some things are just meant to go together – fish and chips, tea and biscuits and NextUp and The Comedy Store. They’re the jam to our doughnut, and through the power of our streaming platform, we are bringing their comedy joy to comedy fans worldwide.

‘Through lockdown we learned that making comedy accessible was really a necessity. It gave people who don’t attend live stand-up shows a chance to discover something new, something different, or something familiar.

‘You really feel like you’re there with the venue’s audience, not knowing what will go right, wrong or who will say what. It’s unfiltered, unedited and there’s no queue for the toilet.’

NextUp also has other deals to stream the monthly women-only Tits n Giggles night from the Backyard Comedy Club in Bethnal Green, and    Raucous, a night featuring under-represented groups from Up The Creek Comedy Club in Greenwich.

The streamer is also giving away 2.5 million free monthly subscriptions via McDonald’s Monopoly promotion over the next six weeks.

Its usual free trial allows subscribers to watch five specials and ten live streams. Monthly subscriptions for the full catalogue start at £5 a month for those paying a year upfront.
