For a possible new show about local newspapers

Josh Widdicombe and Nish Kumar have taken jobs at a local newspaper for a possible new TV programme.

The pair have written a number of articles for this week’s West Sussex Gazette as part of a pilot programme from League Of Their Own producers CPL.

The show is said to be an  affectionate look at the role of local newspapers at a time when their future is under threat.

Quoted in his own newspaper, editor-in-chief Gary Shipton said: ‘Trusted local news has never been more important.  We believe this will really raise the profile of both local newspapers and the power of local’in a post-pandemic world and we are hugely grateful to Josh, Nish and CPL for asking us to be involved.  We will let our readers know more as the story develops.’

Kumar is about to return to screens in Late Night Mash, after the Dave channel snapped up the rights to the Mash Report format after it was dropped by the BBC.

Meanwhile, Widdicombe and the rest of the Last Leg team will be on Channel 4 every day during the Paralympics, which starts on August 24.

The British Comedy Guide says the show they are piloting has the title Hold The Front Page.
