New stand-up show for Union Jack Radio

Recorded at new nights in four UK comedy clubs

Union Jack Radio is to broadcast a new series of stand-up shows, recorded at comedy clubs across the UK.

The broadcaster has teamed up with four venues, which will each host a monthly comedy night, with the performances then airing on the digital channel at a later date.

Manchester’s Frog and Bucket hosts the first on September 2, with Bristol’s Chuckle Busters, Hull’s Giggles Live and The Big Difference in Leicester also involved.

Comedians taking part include circuit stalwart such as Eshaan Akbar (pictured), Scott Bennett, Jen Ives, Sunil Patel, Sikisa, Alasdair Beckett-King, Nina Gilligan and Will Duggan

The first weekly broadcast show will air on Thursday October 7 at 10pm.

Geoff Rowe, director of comedy at Union Jack Radio and founder of the Leicester Comedy Festival, said: ‘I’ve been producing live comedy for almost 30 years and am only too aware of the devastating impact the pandemic and lockdown have had on comedians and promoters across the UK, and around the world.

‘I’m delighted that the team at Union Jack Radio are putting their money where their mouth is and investing in this project to play a part in getting the circuit back up and running. We will have some amazing comedians performing at each club and are thrilled to be working with the network of promoters and clubs.’
