When are Edinburgh Fringe tickets going on sale?
Organisers to open box office amid ongoing uncertainty
The Edinburgh Fringe office will be selling the first tickets to this year’s festival from July 1 - despite huge uncertainty about what the event will look like.
Organisers at the Fringe society say there will be three sorts of events: live, in-person events that meet government safety guidelines; scheduled or as-live online performances; and online on-demand shows which can be viewed any time throughout the Fringe.
There is a massive question mark over what events will actually take place in Edinburgh during the August 6 to 30 duration of the Fringe, exacerbated by Holyrood’s decision last week to maintian the indoor two-metre distancing rule for a while. With such restrictions almost all venues will be unviable, although one metre distancing will open up more possibilities.
Some comedy events programmed by Live Nation in the Corn Exchange, a large venue away from the normal hub, have already gone on sale, featuring the likes of Jason Byrne, Henning Wehn and Daniels Sloss.
Promoters who want to sell tickets via the Fringe office from July 1 need to register by next Wednesday; however there will be rolling deadline of new shows going on sale every week in July, and as they are registered in August.
Fees, including VAT, are £72 for one or two performances, £153 for up to give and £221.40 for six or more, regardless of whether they are in person or online.
