16 shows to be streamed

Streaming service NextUp has confirmed its return to the Edinburgh Fringe, releasing details of at least 16 shows it will be bringing to subscribers.

Highlights include three-time Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Chris Cantrill, musical comic Huge Davies, Australian stand-up Felicity Ward (pictured) and the Chortle Student Comedy Award final.

NextUp’s head of content, Tom Brandt said: ‘The Fringe is one of the most exciting places in the world for comedy, but this year especially, the cost of getting to Edinburgh and staying there puts it out of reach for so many people. And even if you make it up for a weekend, you could never see everything you want to. 

‘With NextUp, you can get a front-row seat s, watch live alongside other comedy fans and chat as it all unfolds. It’s about bringing some of that feeling of being at the Fringe to everyone -  wherever they are and whatever might stop them from being there in person.’

The confirmed line-up – which will be streamed from August 17 to 30 – includes:

• Andrew White: What a Life!
• Chris Cantrill: Rewilding

• Rachel Fairburn: Vexy Beasts
• Christian Brighty: Outlord (WIP)
• Felicity Ward: I Wish I Could Come Out of My Shell
• Sarah Roberts: Scary Movie 7
• Tamsyn Kelly: Rat's Ass
• Graham & Steen
• Basil Crumbwick: Soul Sewage
• Chortle Student Comedy Award Final

A Fringe bundle costs £50, or £40 with an early-bird discount before July 31; or a year’s access to more than 200 on-demand comedy specials and around 60 additional livestreams costs £80  (or £64 by the early-bride deadline). Half of NextUp’s membership income goes to acts and venues.
