Channel 4 sets air date for retrospective dedicated to Paul Ritter

Channel 4’s salute to a decade of Friday Night Dinner will air on May 28, the broadcaster has announced.

The 90-minute special, entitled 10 Years And A Lovely Bit Of Squirrel promises exclusive behind-the-scenes material and previously unseen outtakes.

And it will include an interview with Paul Ritter, who died of a brain tumour last month at the age of 54.

The show will also serve as a tribute to the actor, who played dad Martin Goodman in all 37 episodes of the show - and whose catchphrase gives this retrospective its title.

Castmates Tamsin Greig, Simon Bird, Tom Rosenthal, Mark Heap and Tracy-Ann Oberman have also been interviewed, as well as creator Robert Popper, who wrote all 37 episodes.

Celebrity fans including Claudia Winkleman, Joe Thomas, David Baddiel and Jessica Hynes will also share their favourite moments from the sitcom

Friday Night Dinner first aired on Friday February 25, 2011, and went on to become one of Channel 4's most popular sitcoms of all time. The last episode aired a year ago.

The tribute, which airs at 9pm on the 28th, will be followed by the three best episodes of the  comedy as voted for by viewers.
