The Bristol Comedy Festival is back - with a star line-up

Bristol’s Comedy Garden will be back in June, organisers have announced, with a line-up including Simon Amstell, Dara O’Briain, Sara Pascoe and Nish Kumar.

The event will move from its usual city centre home in Queen Gardens to the more open space of Durdham Downs on the outskirts of the city, to allow social distancing.

Gigs will take place on  a large open-air stage in front of an audience seated in well-spaced groups of two or four.

Producers Will Briggs and Cass Randolph successfully staged the Greenwich Comedy Festival in South London with similar measures last September.

In a statement, they said: ‘We’re thrilled to be bringing the Comedy Garden back. It was heartbreaking to have to cancel last year’s event and we consider ourselves incredibly lucky to have been able to reimagine the event to suit these challenging times.

‘We’ve got an unbelievable line-up, even by our standards, and can’t wait to get these acts in front of our wonderful Bristol audiences.’

Other comics taking part include Tom Allen, Josh Widdicombe, Bridget ChristieRachel Parris, Ed Gamble, Phil Wang and Jamali Maddix.
