Lenny Henry IS The Blob

Star eliminated on The Masked Singer

Sir Lenny Henry was unveiled as the star inside the Blob costume on The Masked Singer tonight.

The 62-year-old had long been suspected as being the celebrity in the purple get-up following clues about stand-up and Shakespeare. However other guesses had included Stephen Fry, Ainsley Harriott and even Morgan Freeman.

After taking off his mask, he told the judges: 'Oh God! Hello! It's not Stephen Fry. Thank you for being so generous with Morgan Freeman.’

Host Joel Dommett asked him: 'How've you found it?’, prompting Sir Lenny to observe: 'I think when I discovered you could turn around [in the costume], that was a big breakthrough.

And when asked why he took part, he said: 'I've been in lockdown since March, so I was like yes OK I'll come and do it. So to have you people be so lovely has been amazing.’

In a double elimination tonight, A-ha singer Morten Harket was revealed to be The Viking, after failing to win votes with his first of Coldplay's The Scientist.

John Thomson had previously been unveiled as Bush Baby while other celebrities eliminated so far have been  Mel B, Glenn Hoddle, Martine McCutcheon and Sophie Ellis Bextor.

Judges Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan were this week joined by guest panellist Alan Carr.
