History revolves around a struggling private school headteacher

Miles Jupp has written his first novel.

The title, History, revolves around a private school headmaster who feels stifled by his rural life and whose marriage is ‘on the brink’.

According to the burb, ‘when things don't go to plan, and an incident at school begins to weigh heavy on his head, Clive's life starts to unravel in front of him. Has he got it in him to turn things around, whatever the cost? After all, it's his own time he's wasting…’

Publishers Headline say the book which is published on August 19, will appeal to readers of Jonathan Coe, Mark Watson, Michael Frayn and David Nicholls.

Jupp went to a rural private school himself - Oakham in Rutland  - and previously wrote the travelogue Fibber In The Heat, about blagging his way on to the England cricket World Cup tour, a fictional memoir from his alter-egoDamien Trench, the culinary writer from Radio 4’s In And Out Of The Kitchen.
