Nina Conti goes dating

Comic ventriloquist announces 2021/22 tour

Comedy ventriloquist Nina Conti has announced her first tour in four years.

The Dating Show, will kick off at Bristol Old Vic on  October 31, with 23 dates so far announced until early 2022.

During the show, she will use remote-controlled masks to give voices to members of the audience taking part in a Blind Date-stye show.

She said: ‘I can only dream of a land where a theatre is at full capacity and everyone is vaccinated and safe and laughing. Apparently we are on track for this in November so I’ve agreed to book a tour.

‘Before this Armageddon hit I was developing a dating show where I would connive for audience members to fall in love wearing masks.  Post-Covid, I can’t think of anything more fitting.

‘I think we all need to get in a room together and laugh our heads off, and if the subject can be love, so much the better.’

Conti has also just launched a character comedy podcast with Shenoah Allen, of The Pajama Men. In  Richard & Greta the duo play unqualified experts who explain ‘how to get the most, or too much, out of your partner’. It is available on  Acast.

In 2019, Conti made the finals of CBS talent show The World’s Best in the US.

Tickets for The Dating Show go on sale at 10am on Friday. Click here for full schedule and booking links.
