Mackenzie Crook mulls a Detectorists revival

Rough plans to 'get the old band back together'

Mackenzie Crook says he’s planning to revive Detectorists.

The comic admitted he’s thinking of getting ‘the old band back together’ almost four years after the last series aired.

‘It’s true,’ he told Zoe Ball on her Radio 2 breakfast show today. ‘I am kind of thinking of it but I don't have any idea at the moment.

‘I'm just starting the process of thinking "Yeah, we should get the old band back together – one last time!"’

Crook wrote and directed three sereis of the comedy about a band of metal detector enthusiasts in Essex, as well as starring alongside Toby Jones.

He was appearing in Ball's show to promote his adaptation of Worzel Gummidge,  which returns to BBC One and Christmas Eve.
