Netflix to air London Hughes special

With Kevin Hart as an executive producer

London Hughes has recorded her first Netflix special.

Her stand-up show To Catch A Dick, which was nominated for last year’s Edinburgh Comedy Award, will drop on  December 22, the streaming service has announced today.

Kevin Hart serves as an executive producer on the special, which was made by his production company Hartbeat.

London Hughes said: ‘I’m thrilled to be working with the legend that is Kevin Hart, and I'm so excited for the world to see this special! After the crazy year we’ve had, we could all do with a good laugh and some good dick.’

Bryan Smiley, Hartbeat’s president of film and television, added: ‘London Hughes is a once in a generation talent.  HartBeat is both excited and privileged to produce her first global comedy special with the biggest comedy platform in the world.’

Last week it was announced that Hughes would also star in the 18-episode series The Netflix Afterparty., discussing the streaming service’s best new releases. She will appear in the show alongside David Spade, who is also an executive producer, and US comic  Fortune Feimster.

Hughes has presented shows for CBBC, and has appeared on several UK reality shows – but has moved to Los Angeles citing a glass ceiling for black comedians in Britain.

Her Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination last year made her  the first black British woman in 39 years to be shortlisted for the prestigious prize.
