Seeking accessible breaks in the UK

Rosie Jones has recorded a new travel series for Channel 4.

In each of the four episodes of Mission: Accessible she will be joined by a fellow comedian as they try to put together an accessible UK trip for a member of the public.

The comics taking part are Maisie Adam, Harriet Kemsley, Kemah Bob, and James Acaster.  

Jones explained: ‘We get to know a disabled person who really wants to go on a short break. Then me and a fellow comedian pal play the role of guinea pigs, so we go on a holiday for the person and we work out what exciting activities they can do. 

‘It’s really good fun and we went to some great places including a gay weekend in Brighton, then we did a romantic weekend in Scotland – it’s been so great

‘All four sidekicks are genuine friends of mine, so it didn’t feel like work at all.'

She added: ‘As a disabled person, it can be seen to be really hard to go on holiday. But I love where I live and I wanted to celebrate the places and the activities that are accessible for disabled people. 

‘I also wanted to show that just because a person is disabled, it doesn’t mean that they have got to have a boring holiday. It made me fall in love with Britain again!

The news comes as it has also been revealed that Radio 4 has ordered a second series of Jones's stand-up show  Box Ticker to air next year.

Mission: Accessible, made with  Visit England, starts on the broadcaster's YouTube channel tomorrow, but here’s an exclusive preview:
