Sacha Baron Cohen's film is complete, report claims

Sacha Baron Cohen has already finished filming Borat 2 and even screened it for a select band of movie insiders, it has been reported.

The comic has been spotted filming over the summer, including trolling a right-wing rally in disguise and behind the wheel of a car in the streets of Los Angeles in his Borat get-up.

According to US website Collider, the  movie is now complete – although details of its content and how it will be distributed remain vague.

But the report suggests that ‘Borat is no longer the little-known Kazakh TV personality he played in the original 2006 movie. The public knows who he is now, so he has to go "undercover" to interview people’.

Such a set-up would also allow Cohen to be filmed at events such as the rally without being immediately recognised, although organisers there did eventually cotton on.

Donald Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani also says he was a victim of one of Cohen’s stunts earlier this year.

The former New York mayor says he was conducting an interview when ‘this guy comes running in, wearing a crazy, what I would say was a pink transgender outfit… It was a pink bikini, with lace, underneath a translucent mesh top, it looked absurd. He had the beard, bare legs, and wasn’t what I would call distractingly attractive.'

Initially it was believed the stunts were for a second series of Cohen’s satirical HBO show, Who Is America?, but that now seems wide of the mark.

Collider says it believes the Borat 2 project could be released before November's US elections – and that it is  a feature film, following the success of the original which grossed more than £200million at the global box office, not  a series or an ad campaign.
