'It proves the first one wasn't a fluke'

After Life wins its second TV choice award

Ricky Gervais’s After Life has been named best comedy at the TV Choice Award.

It is the second time in two years that the Netflix show has taken home the title, which is voted for by viewers.

In a video acceptance award he said: ‘Does that make it twice as good or half as good? It makes it twice because it proves the first one wasn’t a fluke.’

‘It gives me a little spring in my step as I’m writing series 3.’

And he thanked ‘TV Choice, Netflix, the amazing cast and crew and especially my beautiful leading lady – the dog’.

After Life beat fellow nominees  Brassic,  Friday Night Dinner  and Still Open All Hours  to the title last night.
