Sofie Hagen to co-host new true crime podcast

Bad People for BBC Sounds

Sofie Hagen is to co-host a new true crime podcast for BBC Sounds.

The comic is teaming up with  criminal psychologist Dr Julia Shaw to present the series, Bad People, which starts next Thursday.

Hagen previously created the podcasts Comedians Telling Stuff, Secret Dinosaur Hunt and Made Of Human, and co-hosted The Guilty Feminist in its early days,

She said of her new series: ‘Being a fan of true crime, like I am, often means feeling appalled and disgusted with the heinous acts of people who I'd be quick to deem "horrible people’"

‘I really love working with Julia - it's interesting when you don't always agree on everything but still very much agree on the most important thing: that it's worth exploring if "evil" even exists.’

Dr Shaw, an honorary research associate at University College London, added: ‘Each episode is a journey into some darkly fascinating cases and I sneak in as much research from criminal psychology and related fields as Sofie lets me... it’s basically a science show under the pretence of true crime, created - with love - for all my fellow crime nerds out there.’

The BBC says the series will address such questions as: Why do some people do ‘bad’ things? Why do people confess to crimes they didn’t commit? And why do people fall in love with serial killers?
