Sue Perkins and Guz Khan sign up to Comedy Central game show

Celebrity Game Night to be presented by Liza Tarbuck

Sue Perkins and Guz Khan are to be team captains in a celebrity game show newly commissioned by Comedy Central.

Comedians including Kerry Godliman, Andrew Maxwell and Sally Phillips have also been signed up to appear in Celebrity Game Night, which will be presented by Liza Tarbuck.

Ten hour-long episodes have been commissioned following a series that aired on sister station Channel 5 last year with team captains Danny Baker and Susan Calman.

It is based on the American format, Hollywood Game Night, created by Will & Grace star  Sean Hayes, among others.

The series, which will air later this year, promises ‘a series of fun, entertaining and hilarious games, which will test their pop culture knowledge, acting skills and nerves of steel’.

Will Macdonald, creative director of programme-makers Monkey, said: ‘We’re impossibly excited to be back with a new series of this ridiculously warm and funny show – just what the nation needs.

‘It’s been great to be back in studio and we can’t wait for viewers to enjoy Sue and Guz trying to name four types of biscuit before a glitter explosion goes off in their face as much as we did.’

Speaking about making the show in lockdown, he said: ‘The health and safety of everyone working on our productions, including both talent and crew, remains our top priority. Thanks to the amazing work of the production team and all departments, who have made the show safe to film and have found creative solutions to playing the games, this series is even bigger and better than the first.’

Celebrity Game Night will also air on Channel 5 shortly after its Comedy Central debut.
