But this time it's good, not creepy

Louis CK has donated $30,000 to help staff at one of the few comedy clubs to welcomed him back to the stage after his sexual misconduct was exposed.

The comic donated the sum - the equivalent of £24,000 – to a fundraiser set up by fellow stand-up Mike Birbiglia to help employees at the Comedy Cellar in New York through the coronavirus lockdown.

CK donated $10,000 at the start of April, followed by a second donation of $20,000 just over a week later.

Other big contributors include director Judd Apatow, club owner Norm Dworman and Saturday Night Live’s Michael Che, who chipped in $5,000 apiece. Overall the GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $100,000.

CK chose the venue - which featured in the opening credits to his comedy series Louie - to try to relaunch his career in August 2018, although his appearances attracted protests.

The comedian recently released his first stand-up special since his penchant for masturbating in front of more junior female comedians was exposed, Sincerely Louis CK. Read our review here.
