Friday Night Dinner for 2.4million

C4 comedy attracts a record audience

Friday Night Dinner returned to Channel 4 with its biggest ever audience on Friday.

An average of 2.4 million viewers saw the comedy, starring Simon Bird, Tom Rosenthal, Tamsin Greig, Paul Ritter and Mark Heap.

The figure – representing 13.7 per cent of all viewers at the time –  is Channel 4’s biggest overnight audience for a comedy series since the IT Crowd in 2007.

It was especially strong among younger viewers, attracting more than 40 per cent of all 16-34-year-olds who were watching from 10pm, a total of 916,000 people.

Micky Flanagan’s 2017 stand-up special And Another Fing was Sky One’s most-watched show on Friday night, attracting an average audience of 171,000. More.
