Steve Martin and Martin Short cancel Belfast gig

'In light of the ever-evolving global situation' with coronavirus

Steve Martin and Martin Short have pulled their show in Belfast tonight in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

The duo were due to play the SSE Arena with their tour   The Funniest Show in Town At The Moment.

However, Steve Martin, 74, broke the news on Twitter that the performance was not now going ahead.

He wrote: ‘Dear Belfast ticket-holders, in light of the ever-evolving global situation, Marty and I have decided to postpone our Belfast show until happier times.

‘Last night’s thrilling Dublin show turns out to be our sad farewell – for a while – to our beautiful Ireland and Scotland tour.’

There has been no announcement concerning their shows at the Royal Albert Hall this weekend, which is therefore currently still going ahead.

Northern Ireland has 18 recorded cases of Covid-19, with no deaths.

But this morning the first death linked to coronavirus was recorded in the Republic – an elderly woman who passed away in a Dublin hospital.
