Comics up for radio's top Aria awards

Shortlists are out

People Just Do Nothing, Chris Ramsey and John Robins and Elis James are among the comics shortlisted for the most prestigious awards in radio.

Up for the funniest show accolade in the Aria awards are.

  •  Elis James and John Robins for BBC Radio 5 Live (pictured)
  •  James Veitch’s Contractual Obligation, BBC Radio 4
  •  Kurupt FM podcast, Audible UK
  •  ReincarNathan, with Daniel Rigby and Diane Morgan,  and written by Tom Craine and Henry Paker for Radio 4  
  •  Shagged Married Annoyed, podcast with Chris and Rosie Ramsey
  •  The Dave Berry Breakfast Show, Absolute Radio

ReincarNathan, about a reincarnated pop star, is also nominated for best fictional storytelling.

Run by the Radio Academy, the accolades were previously known as the Sony Awards 

Also nominated are Frank Skinner and Iain Lee, who are up for best speech presenter; comedian  Jacob Hawley who made the shortlist for best new presenter for his BBC Sounds podcast Jacob Hawley: On Drugs;  and My Dad Wrote A Porno which is up for best independent podcast.

The results will be announced on Wednesday March 4 at the London Palladium at a ceremony hosted by Greg James.
