Keeley Hawes's dark comedy-drama for ITV

Joanna Lumley and Nigel Havers have joined the cast of ITV's black comedy-drama Finding Alice.

The show was co-created by Line Of Duty star Keeley Hawes, who stars as a woman whose husband’s sudden and accidental death unearths a trail of secrets, debt, suspicion and criminality.

Lumley and Havers will play the parents of Hawes’ title character.

Also joining the cast are Gemma Jones and Kenneth Cranham, who play Alice’s in-laws; Jason Merrells as her husband Harry; Isabella Pappas as their 16-year-old daughter Charlotte; and Two Doors Down actor Sharon Rooney as Harry’s sister Nicola.

ITV describe the six-part series as 'honest, raw, blackly comic journey of grief, love and life'.

It has been written by Men Behaving Badly creator Simon Nye, and Roger Goldby, who co-created the series with Hawes. All three previously worked together on The Durrells, which starred Hawes, was written by Nye and directed by Goldby.

Nicola Shindler, chief executive of programme-makers Red said: 'To have such a strong calibre of actors join the cast alongside Keeley to breathe life into these complex characters is incredibly exciting, and I look forward to audiences meeting them.'

Production starts on the series in London this week.
